April 17, 2015 IRVING, Texas - Baylor women's golfers Louise Gateau-Chovelon, Laura Lonardi and Hayley Davis were named to the 2015 Academic All-Big 12 Golf Team, as announced Friday by the conference office. Gateau-Chovelon and Lonardi earned first-team honors, while Davis was named to the second team.
Baylor has now had a total of 46 Academic All-Big 12 selections, including multiple selections in nine of the last 10 seasons. Davis earned recognition for a third consecutive season after picking up first-team honors as a sophomore in 2013 and second-team recognition as a junior in 2014. Lonardi repeated her first-team recognition from last season.
Gateau-Chovelon, a sophomore journalism major from Saint Satur, France, has a stroke average of 75.94. She saw her best finish of the year at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational, where she shot 11-over 227 to finish in a tie for 17th place.
Lonardi, a junior applied mathematics major from Verona, Italy, has the second-best stroke average for the Lady Bears at 74.74. This season, Lonardi tied the record for the lowest round for BU women's golf with a 65 at the Alamo Invitational, where she finished in a tie for eighth place. Lonardi had her best finish of the season at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, where she tied for fifth place after shooting even-par 216.
Davis, a senior outdoor recreation major from Wimborne, England, leads the Lady Bears in the 2014-15 season with a 72.77 stroke average. Davis has been a part of the lineup of every tournament for the Lady Bears this season, and she also tied the BU women's golf record for lowest round score by shooting 65 at both the Schooner Fall Classic and the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational. Davis finished first at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational and took second place at the Schooner Fall Classic and Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge.
To qualify for Academic All-Big 12 teams, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence, and seniors who have participated for at least two years are exempt from the participation requirement.
Baylor, which is ranked No. 25 nationally in the latest Golfstat rankings, has completed its regular season and returns to action in the Big 12 Conference Championship, which runs April 24-26 in San Antonio, Texas.
