THE RUNDOWN
SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Baylor turned in a record-setting first round to take a seven-stroke lead at the Big 12 Women's Golf Championship on Friday at the Dominion Country Club. The Lady Bears shot 6-under-par 282, nine strokes better than any previous first round in the Big 12 Championship's 19-year history.
BU's 282 was the second-best round ever recorded at the Big 12 Championship, trailing only the 278 shot by Oklahoma in the 2014 third round. The previous first-round record was 291 by Oklahoma, also in 2014. The Lady Bears also accounted for four of the nine below-par rounds shot by the 45-player field on Friday.
Senior Hayley Davis and junior Laura Lonardi are tied for third place after each shot 2-under 70. Freshmen Dylan Kim and Giovana Maymon are tied for sixth place after shooting 1-under 71, while freshman Lauren Whyte is tied for 41st place at 7-over 79.
HIGHLIGHTS
? Davis had four birdies on the front nine and two on the back nine. She led the team with six total birdies.
? Maymon and Kim had three birdies apiece, while Lonardi and Whyte had two each.
? Davis' six birdies were the second-most in the individual field.
? Lonardi was one of two players in the 45-individual field to have an eagle in Friday's first round.
? Davis led the individual field in par-4 scoring average at 3-under 3.70 and Maymon was right behind her at 2-under 3.80.
? Lonardi led par-5 scoring at 3-under 4.25.
? With 16 total birdies, BU tied with Iowa State to lead the field in number of birdies as a team.
? As a team, Baylor led in par-4 scoring with an average of even-par 4.00.

"Our two upperclassmen played well and had quite a few birdies and even an eagle between them. Dylan and Giovana played steady rounds also.
