WACO, Texas - Baylor women's golf has hired Ryan Ashburn as the program's assistant coach, head coach Jay Goble announced Friday.

Ashburn joins the Baylor staff after spending the 2014-15 season at Campbell, where she helped guide the Camels to the 2015 NCAA Women's Golf Championship. CU earned an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament, then placed sixth at the NCAA East Regional to earn one of 24 Championship bids.

"Ryan brings a wealth of experience as an assistant for both the men's and women's teams at Campbell," Goble said. "She helped Campbell to its second-straight NCAA Championship, which shows a lot about their recruiting and development of players, because to be a small Christian school in the middle of North Carolina with their resources, you have to develop players. She'll also be a great asset in recruiting with the international ties she's developed."

In addition to coaching four 2015 All-Big South Conference honorees, seven of eight golfers on the Campbell roster earned Big South Presidential Honor Roll recognition.

Ashburn also assisted on the men's side, where she helped the Camels to a runner-up finish at the Big South Tournament, which was the team's best finish since re-joining the conference in 2011-12. Two men's golfers were named All-Big South and two more were named to the league's All-Freshman team.

Prior to joining the Campbell staff, Ashburn was a four-year letterwinner on the Stetson women's golf team. She was named team captain prior to her 2013-14 senior season and twice was selected to the Atlantic Sun All-Academic Team. Ashburn played 98 competitive rounds for Stetson during her four-year career.

Ashburn is a 2014 Stetson graduate with a degree in sports management and a minor in marketing. She was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in all four years and served as Vice President for two years.

Ashburn joins a Baylor Women's Golf team that is coming off the best year in program history. BU finished as the national runner-up at the 2015 NCAA Championship, earned the program's first-ever Big 12 Championship and had two players earn All-America honors. Goble enters his fifth year at Baylor in 2015-16, and the team begins the season on Sept. 18 at the Mason Rudolph Invitational.
