BAYLOR POSTGAME QUOTES

Baylor Head Coach Kim Mulkey
Opening statementà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦

"I said from the time we sign these two [Kalani Brown and Beatrice Mompremier] ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" on paper they are everything you want, but when you get them here you have to break them down to build them back up. It is not high school anymore. I've been kind of gentle with them, for about a month, letting them feel good about themselves, but we are at another level with conference. It is time to turn up the heat. They are either going to respond to it or going to fold. They are going to make mistakes, they are freshmen, but we cannot wait for them to grow up. We have to do it as fast as we can. Think about it, we did not have Nina [Davis] play a great game, Niya [Johnson] got in foul trouble, but we just stayed solid. We did not go on what a game of runs ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" we stayed the course and just kept at it. Overall, [Alexis] Jones had one of her better defensive games, she got over picks and I thought her help side was better. It was good to see [Alexis] Prince on the floor. Just little things we did today that we had not done. We had a bucket right at the end of that quarter, when Dekeiya Cohen got in the lane and [Brown] got the last bucket. But that was Cohen that made that happen. We had one second on the clock ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" little things we haven't done and I thought we did some well today."

On Nina Davis' rare off performanceà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"I did not see them do a box-in-one, I did not see them deny her the ball. She is entitled to have an off night, she was 1-for-6. Nina does not miss much of those shots that she missed today. They played a zone and sometimes in zone it's hard to find her, you have present yourself in a way where we give it to you. It is good in a lot of ways, because we had to play without her in the first half. You grow up when you don't have your All-American have a good day."

On the post's improvement in holding their positionà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"They allowed people to three-quarter them and they want to ask for the old high school lob. Well, at this level you are not going to get a lob ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" people are on help side ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" so when people three-quarter you, take your leg and keep whipping them to where I can see your numbers. If I am a guard, I am not throwing it to you until I see your numbers. We've been talking about things like that and working at it."

On the buzzer beaters latelyà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"We need to keep doing it. If you come to my practice, at the end of practice, I work full court stuff. 'You are down two, we are going to run one, we are down three, we have no time outs.' We prepare them so they knew exactly what to run right there [at the end of the third quarter]. It was to go into Kalani and she was down there fighting with that kid for position, then Kristy [Wallace] stayed out and he defender came in, and Jones made a great pass to Kristy in enough time to get it off."

Freshman Kalani Brown
On the post playà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦

"We had a come-to-Jesus meeting after the loss at Oklahoma State. We had to be more aggressive and she got on us."

On playing insideà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"We just had to be physical, be strong, and aggressive. Hold on to the ball. Power up, coach mentioned be women about it. We just tried to go hard."

TCU POSTGAME QUOTES

TCU Head Coach Raegan Pebley
Opening statementà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦

"I felt like today Baylor's bigs built their guards' confidence because their guards can take any shot that they want and they know that the bigs are underneath, ready to get offensive rebounds and get to the free throw line. That was definitely the story of the game, especially in the second quarter and to open the game. I felt like our defensive effort was more improved, especially on the boards. They just have a lot of weapons with those bigs coming in one after the other. I think now that they have Alexis [Prince] healthy and coming along, I think that's going to help them. Our team is in a process and we are going to be more focused on our process than the outcome."

On Baylor's defenseà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"They are 6'6" and 6'7" and that is without adding the wingspan, and they are changing shots. I think in the fourth quarter we saw Jordan [Moore] and Destynee [Hives-McCray] create a bit of a larger presence in there. A lot of people want to focus on Baylor's offense, but Baylor has good defense too. They do have good three-point percentage defense. I felt like we did not take a lot of poor threes. There were a few towards the end of the game, but that is natural. We had some open looks and that is why we saw AJ [Alix] and Zahna [Medley] shoot above 50 percent collectively from the three-point line. You cannot just shoot quickly against Baylor, you have to work for the best shot, not just a shot. Their bigs do a great job contesting shots and they do not give you many second chance opportunities because of their rebounding."

On containing Nina Davisà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"I would not say we did anything too specifically, that I am willing to share. I love the Big 12, and the Big 12 has some of the best offensive players in the country. We think we have some great offensive players and obviously Baylor does, Texas does, Oklahoma does. There are so many great ones, obviously West Virginia has one of the most potent offensive players and most difficult matchups on their team. I would include Nina in that. Great players are going to have off nights, but I do think that some of our strategies caught her a little bit off guard. We limited her free throw attempts, which she is very good at getting to the line. I think we limited her attempts at the rim, which limited her offensive rebounds where she gets her second chance points. I pity the next team that has to play her."

On moving forwardà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"We never just move on from the game. There is a routine in the way we do things. We look at film, we work to get better as a team. We have individual players look at film and how to grow and get better."
