MT Plays Perfect on Day One of ITA Regionals

Bears open tournament with six singles wins Friday

THE RUNDOWN
WACO, Texas – Despite rainy conditions forcing all matches indoors, Baylor men's tennis went a perfect 6-0 on day one of the ITA Texas Regional Championships Friday at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center in Waco.

Senior Jimmy Bendeck got the day started with a quick 6-1, 6-2 win over Abilene Christian's Akinora Wada on court six. Then, sophomore and 85^th-ranked Sven Lah tallied a 7-6(5), 6-2 victory over UTRGV's Yehonatan Kaufman on court one.

Junior Constantin Frantzen secured a 6-4, 6-1 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Thomas Rodrigues on court one, followed by sophomore and 79^th-ranked Matias Soto's 7-5, 6-2 triumph over SMU's Tomas Vaise.

Senior and 115^th-ranked Will Little posted a 6-2, 6-3 mark over UTRGV's Clement Sarradin, and then senior and 33^rd-ranked Johannes Schretter wrapped up the night with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Texas A&M's Austin Abbrat.

The Bears continue singles action tomorrow morning while the doubles draw begins in the afternoon.

WHAT'S NEXT
Soto, Frantzen and Little open the singles round of 32 Saturday at 9 a.m. CT, followed by Bendeck, Schretter and Lah at 10:30 a.m.

All three Baylor doubles teams have a first-round bye and will pick up action at 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the Hurd Tennis Center.
