Bears finish in front of 11 teams at season opener

HANAHAN, S.C. – Baylor women's golf shot 2-under-par 286 in Monday's second round of the Cougar Classic at Yeamans Hall, climbing one spot to finish in eighth place at 1-over 577.
The tournament was originally scheduled for a third round on Tuesday, but host College of Charleston cancelled all home athletic events for the week ahead of Hurricane Florence.
Baylor (+1) recorded head-to-head wins against North Carolina (+4), Tennessee (+5), Central Florida (+8), Penn State (+8), North Carolina State (+8), Maryland (+14), Indiana (+15), Boston College (+20), LSU (+23), Georgetown (+30) and Charleston Southern (+51). The Bears placed behind Florida (-30), Vanderbilt (-27), Arkansas (-16), Furman (-11), Florida State (-8), Wake Forest (-5) and College of Charleston (-3).
Gurleen Kaur played a clean final round with four birdies and 14 pars to card 4-under 68 and finish in a tie for 15th place at 4-under 140. Maria Vesga carded a 2-under 70 to finish tied for 20th place at 3-under 141, while Diane Baillieux shot 1-under 71 to tie for 36th place at 2-over 146. Fiona Liddell posted Baylor's final counting score with a 5-over 77 to tie for 63rd place at 6-over 150, and Jordan Shackelford shot 8-over 80 to tie for 94th place at 13-over 157.

- Diane Baillieux tied for fifth in par-5 scoring at 5-under 4.38.
- Vesga and Kaur tied for 20th in par-4 scoring at 1-over 4.05.
- Vesga tied for fourth in the field with 27 pars, while Kaur tied for 12th with 26 pars.
- Kaur tied for 21st with seven birdies across 36 holes.
