Baylor improves to 3-0 in its opening weekend for the second-straight season under Boland
WACO, Texas – No. 5 Baylor men's tennis (3-0) made it an unblemished opening weekend with a 7-0 sweep over Nebraska (0-2) on Monday at Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center.
Baylor improved to 23-3 all-time against the Huskers, which includes a 23-match win streak since the start of the series in 1990.
The Bears opened the match with a quick 6-0 doubles victory from 25th-ranked Ryan Dickerson and Matias Soto at the No. 2 spot. Then, 20th-ranked Sven Lah and Constantin Frantzen downed Patrick Cacciatore and Albert Sprlak-Puk on court one with the 6-3 win for the doubles point.
In singles action, freshman Sebastian Nothhaft made his collegiate debut with a 6-2, 6-3 triumph over Bradley Mittleman at the No. 6 spot. 19th-ranked Lah collected a 6-0, 6-3 win against Victor Moreno Lozano on court two, and 59th-ranked Soto clinched the win with a 7-6(5), 6-1 victory over Albert Sprlak-Puk at the top of the lineup.
Freshman Rahul Dhokia earned his fifth-straight win dating back to the fall with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Shunya Maruyama at the No. 5 spot. No. 111 Dickerson captured a 6-2, 6-3 win against Patrick Cacciatore on court three, and freshman Finn Bass wrapped up the sweep with a 7-6(6), 6-2 victory against Andre Saleh on court four.
