STORY LINES

Baylor kicks off the postseason Sunday night in Round Rock at the Big 12 Championship. The Bears, who enter the the conference's postseason tournament as the No. 3 seed, will take on sixth-seeded West Virginia at 8:00 p.m. at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex. The game will be aired on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
This will be the second time in a week that the Bears will face off against the Mountaineers on the soccer pitch. The two teams met last Sunday (10/24) in a contest that ended in a 0-0 draw.
The game was a battle to the finish as goalkeeper Jennifer Wandt recorded to back-to-back saves in the first overtime to stop the Mountaineers from the golden goal opportunity. The Bears dominated most of the game until West Virginia got more shots off in the overtime periods.
West Virginia holds the all-time record against Baylor 8-2-1.
Baylor had shutout four straight opponents including the West Virginia game until their contest with Oklahoma this week where they fell 2-0 in Norman.
West Virginia closed out their regular season last Thursday where they fell to Oklahoma State 1-2 in the first overtime.
Baylor has had a lot of success in past Big 12 Championships with deep runs in the 2017 and 2018 seasons. In 2017 the Bears topped Texas (2-1 OT) and Oklahoma State (3-0) before defeating TCU 2-1 in overtime to claim their first Big 12 tournament title since 2012.
The Bears are 14-13-3 overall in the Big 12 Championship with an 8-5-2 mark under head coach Paul Jobson. Since it's first tournament title in 2012, the Bears have made it past the first round every year except the 2019 season where they fell to Oklahoma State 0-3.
Baylor checks in at No. 46 in this week's RPI. BU is third in the Big 12 behind 7 TCU, 36 Texas, and 44 West Virginia. Rounding out the conference are 60 Oklahoma State, 80 Texas Tech, 91 Kansas, 106 Oklahoma, 147 Kansas State, and 214 Iowa State.
Picking up career shutouts 38 and 39 last week, Jennifer Wandt now sits in 2nd in the Big 12 record books in that category.
Ally Henderson-Ashkinos has etched her name into the Baylor soccer record books. She now holds the top spot for games played in a career with 99, games started in a career with 98 and she is tied for 7th in the all-time career assists with 15.
Coming in right behind Henderson-Ashkinos is Wandt with 96 games played in her career and 89 games started. Wandt holds the record for career goalkeeper minutes played with 8525.
In the Top Drawer Soccer Top 100 National Freshman - Midseason update, freshman Ava Colberg made the list at number 38.
