Bears play host to five of six Big 12 men’s tennis squads at Hurd Tennis Center
WACO, Texas – Baylor men's tennis is set to host the second-annual Big 6 Invitational at the Hurd Tennis Center from Friday through Monday, Nov. 5-8. Four Bears will compete for the green and gold.
Five of the six teams from the Big 12 Conference will be playing in Waco: Baylor serving as the host, along with Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas and Texas Tech.
In singles play, Matias Soto, the No. 1 seed, has a first-round bye and will face the winner of Francisco Vittar (Texas Tech) and Francisco Pini (Oklahoma State) at 4 p.m. Friday.
Jacob Brumm also has a first-round bye, facing Welsh Hotard (Oklahoma) or Evin McDonald (Texas) at 4:30 p.m.
In first-round matchups at 2 p.m. Justin Braverman faces Justin Schlageter of Oklahoma and Ethan Muza also plays Oklahoma State's Leighton Allen.
The No. 1 seeds in doubles, Soto and Brumm have a bye for the round of 16, and will play either a Texas or Oklahoma duo at 12 p.m. Braverman and Muza face Texas Tech's Takeyasu Sekiguchi and Franco Ribero at 11am.
