Freshman Britta Snyder ties school record with 7-under 65 in second round

HUMBLE, Texas – Baylor women's golf is tied for first place after shooting 12-under-par 564 across two rounds Monday in the ICON Invitational at Golf Club of Houston.
The Bears (-12) are tied with LSU (-12) and six shots clear of the rest of the 13-team field. BU leads Oklahoma State (-6), Houston (-4), TCU (-3), Texas Tech (+1), Northwestern (+2), Texas (+5), Purdue (+8), North Texas (+9), Texas State (+10), SMU (+21) and Texas A&M (+26).
Freshman Britta Snyder tied a school-record by shooting 7-under 65 in the second round. She became the first Baylor player since Hayley Davis in the 2015 NCAA San Antonio Regional to shoot 65 on a par-72 course and joined Davis, Fiona Liddell, Laura Lonardi, Lene Hafsten-Morch and Jaclyn Jansen as the only Bears to card a round of 65.
Snyder was 2-under midway through her second round, then finisher her round with five birdies and four pars to card 7-under. She teed off from No. 3 and began with consecutive birdies on Nos. 3 and 4, followed by a bogey on No. 6. After three straight pars, she made eagle on No. 10, but followed with her final bogey of the round on No. 11. Snyder then made birdies on Nos. 12, 13, 15, 17 and 1 before finishing her round with a par on No. 2.
Snyder is tied for fifth place individually in the 77-player field at 6-under 138, two shots back of a trio of players tied for the lead at 8-under. Fellow freshman Rosie Belsham shot 2-under 68 and 3-under 69 to finish the day in eighth place at 5-under 139.
A third freshman, Nina Lang, who is competing as an individual, posted the Bears' third-best score of the day at 1-over 145 to tie for 24th place individually. Gurleen Kaur is also tied for 24th place at 1-over 145, followed by Diane Baillieux, who is competing as an individual, tied for 29th place at 2-over 146. Hannah Karg and Elodie Chapelet are tied for 36th place at 3-over 147, and another individual, Jordan Shackelford, is in 77th place at 25-over 169.
Baylor's second-round team score of 10-under 278 tied the eighth-best round in program history and matched the sixth-best round relative to par in program history. Snyder's 7-under 65 combined with Belsham at 3-under 67, Karg at 2-under 70 and Kaur at 2-over 74 to give the Bears a 10-under 278.
