BU to face its fourth-consecutive ranked opponent
WACO, Texas – Following just its third loss of the season, No. 2 Baylor men's tennis is back in action Wednesday at the Hurd Tennis Center for a matchup with No. 16 Arizona at 6 p.m. CT in Waco.
BU (16-3) is 2-0 following a loss this season and will look to gather its third such win against a formidable Wildcat squad (15-1) that has won 13 matches in a row. This will be Baylor's fourth match in a row against the top-25, having won six of its nine contests against ranked opponents so far this year.
The Bears are coming off a narrow defeat at No. 12 Texas A&M, 4-3, dropping the doubles point for just the fifth time this season. No. 43 Sven Lah, No. 74 Nick Stachowiak and No. 103 Charlie Broom each collected singles wins for BU over the Aggies.
Baylor holds a combined record of 78-14 this dual season in singles and a 37-15 mark in doubles action. Broom and doubles partner Matias Soto will look for their team-leading 10th doubles win of the season, while fifth-year senior Constantin Frantzen will try for his 100th-career doubles victory against the Wildcats.
This will be the third meeting all-time between Baylor and Arizona, as the two sides have split the two previous contests. BU took a 5-2 victory in 2004, the most recent matchup.
The Bears are hoping to improve to 17-3 overall for the third time in the last five seasons. Free T-shirts will be available for fans while supplies last.
Live scoring and live video will be available on BaylorBears.com.
