Bears are 14 shots back of lead heading to final round

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Baylor women's golf is tied for 11th place after shooting 9-over-par 297 in Saturday's second round of the Ping/ASU Invitational. The Bears are 14 shots back of the lead entering Sunday's final round with a 36-hole total of 14-over 590 at Papago Golf Club.
No. 8 Baylor (+14) is tied with No. 23 UCLA (+14) and leads Cal Poly (+27), Washington State (+31) and California (+32). The Bears are close behind No. 7 Arizona State (E), No. 34 Michigan (+2), No. 14 Northwestern (+4), No. 17 Arizona (+5), Denver (+6), No. 44 Oregon State (+7), No. 15 Oregon (+7), No. 38 Stanford (+8), San Jose State (+11) and No. 48 New Mexico (+12).
Freshman Rosie Belsham had the Bears' best second-round score at even-par 72, bouncing back from a double bogey on the first hole with birdies on Nos. 2, 10 and 15 and only one more bogey the rest of the way. She moved up into a tie for 16th place at 1-over 145. Fellow freshman Britta Snyder carded 1-over 73 to move into a tie for sixth place at 2-under 142 through two rounds.
Elodie Chapelet and Hannah Karg rounded out the team scorecard with matching rounds of 4-over 76. Karg is tied for 48th place at 6-over 150, while Chapelet is tied for 60th at 9-over 153. Gurleen Kaur shot 5-over 77 to move into a tie for 71st place at 11-over 155, and Diane Baillieux, who is competing as an individual, shot 1-over 73 to move up into a tie for 30th place at 3-over 147.

28 – Britta Snyder has made pars on 28 of 36 holes through two rounds, tie for second-most in the 84-player field and one back of the tournament lead. She made 15 pars as part of a clean first round of 3-under 69 and converted 13 pars over her final 16 holes in Saturday's second round.

Sunday's final round tees off at 9:30 a.m. CDT from the first and 10th tees. Baylor will be in the first group off the 10th tee at 9:30 a.m. in pairings with New Mexico and UCLA.
