Bears travel to College Station for top-five showdown on Saturday
WACO, Texas – No. 4 Baylor equestrian (4-2, 2-1) returns to action Saturday with a trip to No. 2 Texas A&M (6-1, 3-0) for an 11 a.m. matchup at the Hildebrand Equine Complex in College Station.
This will be just the second top-five contest BU has competed in this season, having opened the year ranked No. 8 before ascending to No. 3 for the final three meets of the fall.
The Bears rounded out the fall by splitting two meets on back-to-back days against then-No. 2 Auburn and former No. 6 Fresno State. The Tigers defeated Baylor 13-7, but BU bounced back with an 11-7 victory over the Bulldogs.
Earlier this season, the Bears handed the Aggies their only loss of the season so far with a 12-7 decision in Waco, snapping a previous five-meet losing streak to TAMU. Baylor collected wins in all four events, marking a sweep for the sixth time in the last three seasons.
Additionally, Baylor has claimed 15 of 24 individual events this year, including a 4-0 sweep in Horsemanship on Sept. 24 at No. 10 UT Martin and a 5-0 sweep in Reining on Nov. 5 vs. TCU. It's the first time the Bears have recorded sweeps in each of the two Western events since the 2019-20 season.
Seventeen different Bears have recorded points in the 2021-22 campaign, including Emma Fletcher (Flat) and Caroline Fuller (Fences), who are both undefeated in their respective events. Fuller has racked up the award collection so far this season, garnering five Rider of the Month honors from either the Big 12 or NCEA.
Live scoring for the meet will be available here.
