HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – No. 9 Baylor women's golf opens play at The Darius Rucker Intercollegiate on Monday, as one of 12 top-25 teams in the field at The Long Cove Club.
All three rounds of the Darius Rucker will feature live coverage on the Golf Channel beginning on Monday at 1:30 p.m. CT. This will be the Bears sixth appearance at The Long Cove Club and head coach Jay Goble is looking forward to seeing his team tested against great teams on a big stage.
"The Darius Rucker Intercollegiate is an event we highlight on our calendar each year," he said. "It stands alone as the only women's collegiate event televised on the Golf Channel and showcases the best teams in the country. We are fortunate to be a part of it and can't wait to compete at the Long Cove Club."
SIlje Ohma has been red-hot to start the spring, with three-straight top-five finishes including a tie for 2nd at the T. Hession Regional Challenge. The freshman will play at the No. 1 spot aiming to add to her six rounds at par or better this spring.
Rosie Belsham will play at No. 2 this week. Belsham is also coming off back-to-back top five finishes and played at the Darius Rucker last year earning a tie for 35th.
Sera Hasegawa is back in the lineup for a second-straight event after missing the first two events of the spring with a minor injury. Playing out of the No. 3 spot this week, Hasegawa will look to build on a tie for 31st at the T. Hession Regional Challenge.
Hannah Karg will make a third-straight start in the spring and play at the No. 4 spot this week. The senior will make her second appearance at the Darius Rucker after finishing tied for 72nd as a freshman, in what turned out to be the final event for BU in the COVID-shortened 2020 season.
BaiMai Seema will get the start at No. 5 this week in her first appearance of the spring season. Seema played at Long Cove club last season and finished tied for 41st highlighted by a 1-under 70 in the final round.
Seema will lead things off on the No. 10 tee for Baylor on Monday morning at 9:10 a.m. Karg will follow at 9:20 a.m., just in front of Hasegawa at 9:30 a.m. Belsham will tee off at 9:40 a.m., with Ohma taking the anchor position at 9:50 a.m. The Bears will be playing alongside No. 19 Northwestern and No. 20 Vanderbilt.
Live coverage runs from 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. CT for all three rounds. Live scoring and stats can also be found at GolfStat.com.
