Bears hosting UTRGV, Texas Tech at the Hurd Tennis Center
WACO, Texas – Baylor men's tennis returns to Waco for the first time in three matches to host a doubleheader against UTRGV at 11 a.m. and Texas Tech in the conference opener at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
The Bears (12-11) are hot off a four-game winning streak, where they only allowed two points to be scored against them. BU took the last three dubs on the road against No. 47 SMU, Oral Roberts and No. 57 Tulsa.
BU and UTRGV have a rich history of 24 matches that date back to 1971 between the two programs. The Bears have taken nine-straight against the Vaqueros, most recently in a 2019 4-0 sweep. UTRGV lost four straight going into Saturday's matchup, taking their last win over BYU on March 4.
Texas Tech comes to Waco to open Big 12 play after a 12-6 record for the non-conference slate. All-time, the Red Raiders lead the series at 32-31, but the Bears took the last two decisions in 2021 and 2022.
The ITA computerized rankings have Texas Tech at No. 31, with Olle Wallin at 42 in singles and the Dimitrios Azoides/Reed Collier pair at 72 in doubles.
Texas Tech is Baylor's Go Gold match. Rally towels will be given away and fans are encouraged to arrive to the Hurd Tennis Center in their best gold gear.
All matches will have results provided live online and Playsight will be streaming each court on BaylorBears.com.
