Bears face Utes for first time
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – No. 18 Baylor volleyball takes on Utah on Saturday afternoon to finish a road swing, first serve set for 2 p.m. CT at Huntsman Center.
The Bears (10-5, 2-2) and Utes (14-2, 4-1) will meet for the first time in program history on Saturday.
BU comes off a 3-0 loss to No. 23 BYU on Wednesday to play Utah. The Utes swept No. 17 TCU on Wednesday night in Salt Lake.
Against BYU, the Bears kept it close in the first two sets, falling by two points in the first frame and four in the second. BU couldn't keep up in the third and fell 25-13. BYU now leads the all-time series, 2-1.
Saturday will be the Bears' second road match outside of Texas this season.
Baylor is 104-46 in Big 12 matches under head coach Ryan McGuyre and have raked in 230 Big 12 wins overall since 1996.
Leading the way for the Bears through 15 matches are senior outside hitter Elise McGhee (172 kills, 22 aces), senior libero Lauren Briseño (224 digs), graduate transfer setter Jackie Barrett Frazier (428 assists) and senior middle blocker Manuela Bibinbe (49 blocks).
The match will be streamed on ESPN+ at 2 p.m. CT, with Jim Watson and Victoria Dennis on the call. Live stats will be available at BaylorStats.com, with a full recap and final box score uploaded to BaylorBears.com after the conclusion of the match.
