BU has won 16 of the 20 meetings against the Wildcats in the Ryan McGuyre Era
WACO, Texas – No. 20 Baylor volleyball returns home to the Ferrell Center on Wednesday night to begin a three-match homestand, hosting Kansas State at 7 p.m. CT live on ESPN+.
The Bears will look to bounce back from a challenging stretch that featured three-straight losses, including back-to-back top-25 matchups against No. 18 Kansas and No. 8 Arizona State. Even on the heels of a tough stretch, head coach Ryan McGuyre likes the way his team has carried itself getting ready for this week.
"Yeah, we're still a confident team, and they are confident in each other," he said. "Coming off a late and long week from a travel standpoint, and being away from home for a full week was tough, but we got after it yesterday, and that felt good."
Entering the contest at 9-6 overall and 4-3 in the Big 12, the Bears look to continue their winning ways inside the friendly confines, boasting an impressive 5-1 mark at home this season. BU has been strong in Waco, leading the all-time series against Kansas State 17-14 in matches played at the Ferrell Center, having won 12 of the last 13 and 16 of the last 20 overall since 2015.
Offensively, senior middle blocker Manuela Bibinbe continues to pace the Bears with 157 kills (2.71 per set) while hitting .256 and recently surpassing 200 career blocks. Freshman outside hitter Ksenia Rakhmanchik was named the Big 12's Rookie of the Week on Tuesday afternoon, continuing to make a major impact in her debut season, ranking second on the team with 135 kills (2.60 per set) and recording double-digit kills in five-straight matches. Sophomore MJ McCurdy is coming off a big week where she averaged 3.00 digs per set and added three total blocks, while also providing a strong offensive spark with 19 kills on a .319 hitting percentage.
Defensively, Morgan Madison anchors the back row with a team-best 207 digs, putting her 26 away from Hannah Lockin Sedwick's freshman record of 233. The Bears are hitting .234 as a team, holding opponents to .213, and remain a tough serving squad with 89 aces on the season.
Pete Sousa and Faith Lynch will call the action from inside the Ferrell Center for ESPN+. Live stats are available at BaylorBears.com/stats.
