STORY LINES
• Indiana and Baylor will meet up for the second time in program history on the hardwood. The only previous matchup came in a non-conference clash on Dec. 13, 1980. IU won the contest by a score of 80-47 in Bloomington before going on to win the 1981 National Championship.
• Indianapolis holds fond memories for the Baylor family as the Bears took home the 2021 NCAA National Championship in the Circle City. This will be the first time since the Bears cut down the net that they will return to Indy.
• The exhibition will be managed by event promoter bdG Sports. In basketball, bdG has a lengthy history of producing college basketball content. From summer exhibition tours to multiple high-profile in-season tournaments, bdG will contract nearly 150 regular-season men's and women's Division I basketball games annually. It boasts the record for the largest hoops crowd in Nevada state history (Duke-Gonzaga 2021 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas) and the second-most watched game since 2008 (Arkansas-Illinois on Thanksgiving Day 2024 with 5.1 million viewers). bdG is proud to be the only third-party operator which manages a conference tournament, assisting The Big West Conference Tournament each March in Henderson, Nevada. In professional basketball, bdG managed home games for the NBA G-League's Ignite for its two years at the Dollar Loan Center.
• Cameron Carr, Dan Skillings Jr., and Tounde Yessoufou each charted double-figure scoring games to highlight Baylor in its first exhibition of the 2025-26 season, taking down Grand Canyon, 79-72 at Foster Pavilion. As a team, the Bears shot 44 percent in the win, including a 12-of-24 mark from 3-point range and a 13-of-14 showing from the free-throw line. BU held a 32-30 margin in rebounds, had assists on 15 of 27 shots and held GCU to a 46% shooting clip from the field, including a 4-of-18 mark behind the arc.
Most notably the scrimmage marked a matchup of brothers Scott and Bryce Drew, with Scott in his 23rd season leading the Baylor program, and Bryce in his sixth season directing the Lopes. As a family entering the 2025-26 season, the Drew brothers and their Dad Homer combined for 1,408 wins, 225 wins behind the Iba Family (1,633 wins) for most wins among father/son combinations in division I college basketball.
• Similar to BU, Indiana had a roster over-haul in the offseason with zero returning minutes, bringing in 10 transfers from the portal. Both programs recruited in top-25 ranked portal classes.
• Baylor is one of seven high-major teams in the country to be returning zero players for to its 2025-26 roster. BU has completely flipped its roster, bringing in 10 transfers from the portal. This is the first time in program history Baylor has had zero returning players, losing four out of eligibility, nine to the transfer portal and one to the NBA.
