Bears post back-to-back 100-point games over the weekend
WACO, Texas – Baylor men's basketball earned a dominant victory over Southern on Sunday afternoon with the help of a second half surge, finishing 111-67.
The Bears posted a 71-percent field goal clip in the second half, going 24-of-34 from the field and 12-of-17 from the three to boost 71 points in the final 20 minutes.
In total, Baylor (9-2) made 17 buckets from three-point range over Southern (4-8). The last time BU sank 17 from far was versus Kansas State in 2021. On the defensive end, BU forced nine turnovers while only committing a season-low of four.
Freshman all-star Tounde Yessoufou grabbed a career-best 28 points, sinking eight-for-14 and going nearly perfect nine-for-10 at the line, along with snagging eight boards and six assists.
Behind the freshman was Cameron Carr with 22 points, six assists and six rebounds. Carr has reached double-figures in the first half in an impressive 10 of Baylor's 11 games this season.
Dan Skillings Jr. went a perfect four-of-four from beyond the arc, earning 17 total points along with five assists. Obi Agbim posted 12 points, also making four baskets from far. Isaac Williams IV grabbed 11 points, all coming in the second half.
The Waco, native of Caden Powell brought down 15 rebounds on 254 Day, his second consecutive game with at least 15 boards. Will Kuykendall and Drew Perry made their appearance in the final three minutes, with Kuykendall nailing back-to-back threes and Perry sinking one as well to send every Bear home in the holiday spirit.

A Carr dunk opened the Sunday slate game, but Southern persisted with a 7-0 run to take an early lead in the game. However, two made buckets from the arc provided by Carr got the Bears back in the game to retake the lead.
Carr and Yessoufou both reached double-figures in the first 10 minutes of the game, combining for 22 of the Bears 28 points at the 9:30 mark in the first half. Both Carr and Yessoufou have earned double-digits in every game this season for the Bears.
Both teams endured extended scoring droughts of nearly five minutes apiece before Michael Rataj broke the silence for the Bears with a layup. Abgim then added to the momentum just before the break, drilling a three-pointer to stretch Baylor's lead and send the Bears into halftime ahead 40-31.
After the break, Abgim opened the second half by knocking down one from beyond the arc for the Bears, and an alley-oop from Skillings Jr. to Carr fueled an opening 14-2 run that allowed BU to continue to strengthen its lead.
Baylor continued to pull away, going a perfect 5-for-5 from the field over a three-minute stretch to expand its lead to 28. Carr recorded a career-high four assists to contribute to BU's season high of 28 team assists, while Abgim stayed hot from beyond the arc, matching his season-high of four three-pointers.
Carr and Yessoufou continued to pace the Bears after halftime, each pouring in 20+ points. The performance marked Carr's seventh 20-point outing of the season and Yessoufou's fourth. Yessoufou went 9-for-10 from the free throw line to assist in his career high in points of 28.
Kuykendall checked into the game and immediately made an impact, drilling back-to-back threes for the first triples of his season and a career-high point total, while Perry nailed a three for the final basket. Both helping the Bears set a season high with 17 three-pointers in the game.
