No. 22 WBB Mounts Late 19-Point Comeback to Down Oklahoma State

STILLWATER, Okla. – No. 22 Baylor women's basketball erased a 19-point third-quarter deficit to defeat Oklahoma State, 77-68, on Wednesday at Gallagher-Iba Arena, outscoring the Cowgirls 29-8 in the fourth quarter.
The Bears (12-3, 1-1) won the opening tip and scored the first four points of the game, extending its largest first-half lead to six near the end of the first quarter before Kayla Nelms sank a jumper at the buzzer to give the Bears a 16-14 lead after one period.
After trading baskets to open the second quarter, Oklahoma State went on a nine-point run to take a 33-24 lead with just over four minutes remaining in the half. Baylor responded with a seven-point run to close the period, trailing 35-32 at halftime.
Oklahoma State (12-3, 1-1) outscored Baylor 11-2 in the first four minutes of the third quarter to build a 46-34 advantage. The Cowgirls extended their lead to 60-41 with under two minutes left in the third, their largest lead of the game at 19.
In the third, Ella Brow checked into the game for the first time in 342 days after being sidelined with an injury since January 2025 before Yuting Deng hit a buzzer-beating layup off an assist from Nelms to end the quarter with Baylor trailing 60-48.
The fourth quarter belonged entirely to Baylor. The Bears forced an Oklahoma State timeout just under four minutes into the period after outscoring the Cowgirls 11-4 to open the quarter. The run was ignited by a Jana Van Gytenbeek 3-pointer and a pair of Nelms' layups.
Van Gytenbeek sunk another 3-pointer with 3:14 remaining to give Baylor a 66-64 lead, its first advantage since the first quarter. Baylor extended its run to 14 unanswered points when Van Gytenbeek converted a layup with 1:33 left, giving the Bears a 68-64 lead.
The comeback ended in a 34-8 run for the Bears in gold.
Taliah Scott led the Bears with 24 points on 5-of-8 shooting, going 13-of-15 from the free-throw line. She added two rebounds, one assist and one steal in 35 minutes, her first full game back since exiting versus Texas with an injury.
Van Gytenbeek finished with 17 points on 6-of-13 shooting and 4-of-8 from 3-point range. She distributed eight assists and grabbed four rebounds in her strong performance.
Nelms provided a spark off the bench with 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting, adding eight rebounds and two assists.
Bella Fontleroy contributed 6 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Darianna Littlepage-Buggs added 6 points and 4 rebounds before sitting foul trouble. Kyla Abraham scored 5 points with 2 rebounds off the bench, while Deng finished with 4 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals.
For Oklahoma State, Jadyn Wooten led with 16 points on 7-of-15 shooting. Achol Akot recorded 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Micah Gray added 14 points.
Baylor shot 75.0% from the field in the fourth quarter (9-of-12) while holding Oklahoma State to 20.0% (3-of-15). The Bears finished 80.0% from the free-throw line for the game (20-of-25) compared to Oklahoma State's 64.7% (11-of-17).
The Bears are back on the road for a top-10 matchup, facing Iowa State on Sunday at 2 p.m. The game will be live on ESPN and the Baylor Sports Media Network.
