Bears clinch in tiebreaker
INDIAN WELLS, Calif. – Baylor men's tennis secured another tiebreaker win with its 4-3 clinching win over ranked opponents No. 28 Pepperdine.
The Bears won the doubles point and then were led by senior captain Oskar Brostrom Poulsen to clinch the win. The Bears have now won six matches in a row.
THE RUNDOWN
In doubles, the duo of Luc Koenig and Devin Badenhorst knocked off No. 72 Halldin/Homberg 6-4 on Court Two. Louis Bowden and Zsombor Velcz handled their opponents on Court Three 6-3.
Moving to singles, only Badenhorst and Velcz secured wins on their first set. Velcz kept his momentum up, winning Court Three 6-4, 6-4. The Bears fought back in the second set with four Bears extending their matches going into a third set.
Miladinovic put Baylor's third point of the day, while Pepperdine made work and captured wins on Courts One, Four and Five to tie the match at 3-3. All coming down to Court Two of Brostrom Poulsen, the senior captain sealed the winning point for the Bears, beating No. 47 Homberg 2-6, 7-5, 7-6(6).
The Bears will face off with the winner of the Arizona State/Princeton match taking place on Saturday morning and will play on Sunday morning at 11:30 a.m. CT.
