Bears look to snap OSU’s 11-home match win streak
STILLWATER, Okla. – No. 8 Baylor men's tennis continues its road streak and takes on No. 39 Oklahoma State on Thursday night at 5 p.m. CT at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
Baylor (13-7, 1-1 Big 12) is coming off a top-25 sweep at Arizona State, 4-0. The Bears have won four of their last five matches, with four of those matches being against ranked opponents.
Oklahoma State (14-6, 1-2 Big 12) opened its conference season with three road matches, dropping the last two at No. 57 BYU, 2-4, and No. 75 Texas Tech, 0-4. However, the Cowboys hold an impressive 11-0 home record at the Greenwood Tennis Center, the best start in the facility's history.
BU's Devin Badenhorst was named Big 12 Player of the Week after his two ranked singles wins at the No. 1 spot, including his highest ranked takedown of No. 3 Jay Friend of Arizona, 6-3, 6-0. Badenhorst did not drop more than three games in any set throughout the week, winning his two singles matches by a combined 24-6 margin. The wins improved him to 8-6 overall in dual match singles play this season, including a sterling 6-1 record against nationally ranked opponents.
At the No. 3 spot, Connor Van Schalkwyk holds an impressive nine-match win streak, having not lost a singles match since Feb. 5.
The most recent ITA team rankings have the Bears put at No. 8, marking the sixth-consecutive week BU has lived in the top-10.
The Cowboys and Bears will battle for the 46th time on Thursday night with Baylor holding a 33-12 advantage over OSU. The last time BU traveled to Stillwater in 2024, the Cowboys came away with a 4-2 win.
