LAS VEGAS – Baylor will compete in the second-annual College Basketball Crown, facing off against Minnesota for the first time in program history on Wednesday night at MGM Grand Garden Arena.
GAME NOTES
• This will be the 17th postseason bid for Baylor underneath head coach Scott Drew.
• BU holds a 31-14 (.688) postseason record underneath Drew.
• Discounting the 2020 season due to Covid-19, Baylor has earned a postseason bid every season since 2012.
• Baylor is one of five teams to appear in every postseason since 2012, joining Gonzaga, Kansas, Michigan State, and Saint Mary's.
• Baylor looks to become the first program to win an NCAA, NIT, and College Basketball Crown championship.
• BU is 10-7 against Big Ten teams underneath Drew.
• Drew became one of 25 active DI head coaches with 500 career wins after a dominant 101-75 win over Utah to end the 2025-26 regular season. At age 55, Drew is the third youngest among the 25 coaches, the only younger coaches being Bart Lundy (54) and Mick Cronin (54).
• Kenpom has the Bears holding the No. 2 toughest opponent defensive strength of schedule in the country.
• Additionally, BU's overall strength of schedule ranks as 21st in the nation and 6th in the Big 12.
• Baylor ended the regular season shooting 51.4-percent from the field and averaging 81.0 points in its last five games versus 40.1-percent from the field and an average of 66.8 points in its first five games of the conference season.
• The duo of Cameron Carr and Tounde Yessoufou have led the Bears through the season with a combined 1,184 points.
• The two are the first pair of 500+ scorers in a season for BU since 2009-10 with LaceDarius Dunn (704) and Ekpe Udoh (500).
• Carr's 613 points are the most by a Baylor player in their first year since Vinnie Johnson (1977-78) and rank in the top-10 of all-time scoring season-leaders.
• At UCF, Yessoufou broke the freshman program record with a current 571 points, passing Aaron Bruce (2004-05).
• In the Big 12 end of year awards, Carr earned All-Big 12 Third Team and All-Newcomer Team. Yessoufou was named All-Big 12 Honorable Mention.
• Isaac Williams IV owns 17 blocks on the season, the most by a Baylor player 6'4 or shorter since Willie Sublet (1993-94) who knocked down 38. Williams is currently tied for third in the nation in players 6'1 or shorter in blocks on the season.
• Williams has been on a tear over the last five contests, averaging 12.0 points and 5.2 assists while shooting 56.1 percent from the field and an impressive 70 percent from three.
• BU looks to bounce back from its first round exit from Kansas City at the Big 12 Tournament, where Baylor fell to Arizona State, 79-83. The Bears ended their regular season winning three of their last five games.
