Bears and Lady Vols tipping off for the ninth time, first since 2016
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Baylor women's basketball will face the Tennessee Lady Volunteers in Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on Friday, December 18, as announced by Complete Sports Management on Wednesday morning. The game is part of a college women's basketball doubleheader at the home of the Nashville Predators, as Vanderbilt is also set to face Belmont the same day.
Tickets for the matchup are available now through Thursday night by using the presale code NASHBEARS26 through Ticketmaster. The general ticket sale opens Friday, May 29 at 10 a.m. CT.
Baylor and Tennessee have met eight times, with the Bears winning each of the last six to hold a 6-2 all-time advantage. The two programs, which faced each other in the 2004, 2010 and 2012 NCAA Tournaments, last played in December 2016, when Baylor recorded a 22-point victory at Rocky Top.
In that 2016 game, Alexis Jones led the Bears with 30 points on 11-of-25 shooting, while Nina Davis' 20 points and Khadijah Cave's 10 rounded out the double-digit scorers. Jones also added 10 assists, nine rebounds and three steals.
Tipoff time and broadcast information for the Dec. 18 game will be announced at a later date.
Baylor is coming off a 25-9 campaign in 2025-26, finishing third in the Big 12 while extending the nation's second-longest active streaks of 20-win seasons (26) and consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances (22). The Bears led the conference in blocks per game and 3-point percentage defense and ranked 14th nationally in field-goal percentage defense. Building on success, Baylor owns the most victories among Big 12 teams since Collen took the program's reins ahead of the 2021-22 season, while Collen ranks third among active major conference head coaches in wins through their first five seasons at their current school and fifth in winning percentage in that same category.
The remainder of the Bears' 2026-27 non-conference schedule will be released at a later date.
Baylor women's basketball is presented by Central National Bank, a family-owned, independent bank headquartered in Waco, Texas, that provides uniquely personal service while simultaneously embracing the latest developments in banking technology.
