Women Golfers Take First At Adidas Fall Invitational

Port St. Lucie, Fla. - Baylor's women's golf team took the title at the Adidas Fall Invitational today (302-300-297=899). This is the third out of four tournaments this year that the Bears have taken a title. The Bears took first place in their season-opener at the Ptarmigan/ Ram Fall Classic in Fort Collins, Colo. and at New Mexico State's Price's Give 'Em Five Intercollegiate.

The Bears were led by senior Hanna-Sofia Svenningsson with a third-round score 73, she tied for second place individually with an even par 216 (71-72-73). This is Svenningsson's first top-five finish this season.

Coming in second for the Bears was senior Melanie Hagewood who tied at seventh after carding a third-round 72 (76-76-72=224). After shooting a final-round of 80, junior Michaelyn Morgan finished in 22nd place (80-72-80=232). Freshman Josefin Svenningson shot a 78 putting her tied for 23rd after the final round of play (75-80-78=233), while Junior Kelli McKandless tied for 27th place after scoring a 74 today (80-81-74=235). Freshman Erin Bradford finished at 45th place after carding an 81 today (84-84-81=249).

Rounding out the top five finishers are Arkansas (302-309-289=900), Missouri (305-297-302=904), Kent State (301-306-307=914) and Nebraska (301-316-301=918).

The Bears are set to play their final tournament this fall in the Pine Needles Women's Collegiate in Southern Pines, N.C. Nov. 4-5.
