Southern Pines, N.C. - Baylor's women's golf team is currently in third place after day one at the Pine Needless Invitational after carding a two-round 607 on Monday (300-307). Today was the first of the two-day tournament. The 11-team tournament is being played at the Pine Needles Golf Course (par 71) in Southern Pines, N.C.
The Bears, ranked 26th nationally, are led by junior Michaelyn Morgan who shot a two-round 150, putting her tied for seventh place (74-76). Currently in second for the Bears is senior Hanna-Sofia Svenningsson. She is tied at 13th after carding a two-round 152 (75-77). Junior Kelli McKandless is currently tied for 17th (75-78=153). Senior Melanie Hagewood is tied for 22nd place after Monday's play (79-76=155), and freshman Josefin Svenningson is tied at 26th place (76-80=156).
Freshman Erin Bradford, who entered the tournament as an individual, carded a two-round159 to put her tied for 36th (77-82).
Host N.C. State leads the tournament (303-290=593) followed by North Carolina (304-292=596). Rounding out the top five are Baylor (300-307=607), Miami (316-294= 610) and Rollins College (314-299=613).
The Bears are set to resume play Tuesday morning. This is the final tournament the Bears will compete in this fall.
