BAYLOR VS. WASHINGTON...
The Baylor Lady Bears, currently ranked No. 5 in both the AP and Coaches polls, enter the contest with the University of Washington Huskies with a 6-0 record and an NCAA Division I-best and school record 26-game win streak. En route to its perfect 2005-06 mark, Baylor has posted wins over No. 8 Georgia, UCLA, Indiana, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, California and Marshall.
The Washington Huskies come to Waco with an unblemished 5-0 mark and are fresh off a Sunday victory over Rice, 86-62, in the championship game of the Husky Classic. The Huskies also have posted impressive victories over then-No. 23 Utah (63-56), Alabama (56-52), Florida State (71-69) and San Diego (77-61). Washington is off to its best start since head coach June Daugherty's 2003-04 squad also opened at 5-0. In 1997-98, her second season as the Huskies' head coach, Daughtery's team raced out to a 10-0 start.
TIME TO CATCH YOUR BREATH...
The Lady Bears have been on a whirlwind schedule of late and are finally at a point in their schedule where things will slow down a bit. Beginning with the Nov. 18 contest with UCLA, the Lady Bears played five games, one-half of their pre-Big 12 Conference schedule, in a 10-day span. Immediately after the Nov. 18 game against UCLA (93-85), the Lady Bears boarded a charter plane to travel to Bloomington, Ind., to play a Saturday game at Indiana (W, 74-62). Baylor then returned home to host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Tuesday (Nov. 22) and posted a 92-64 win. Early the next morning the team departed Waco to fly to Riviera Maya, Mexico, to participate in the Cancun Classic over the Thanksgiving holidays. While in Mexico, the Lady Bears posted wins over California ( 75-58) and Marshall (74-47). After BU's Dec. 2 contest with Washington the Lady Bears break for final exams before hosting McNeese State on Dec. 13.
BAYLOR IN THE POLLS...
Baylor finished last season ranked No. 1 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll and No. 5 in the Associated Press (AP) poll. The Lady Bears, defending NCAA champions, are currently ranked No. 5 in the most recent coaches poll after debuting at No 7 in the preseason poll. The AP poll's Nov. 28 ranking lists Baylor at No. 5 for the second straight week. Baylor has now been ranked in a school-record 33 straight AP polls dating back to week nine of the 2003-04 listing when they broke in at No. 24. The Lady Bears have not been ranked lower than No. 9 since Nov. 30, 2004.
26-GAME WIN STREAK... The Lady Bears enter the Washington contest sporting the nation's longest win streak, a school-record 26-game string. Baylor's last loss came on Jan. 22, 2005, in Austin, Texas when the Texas Longhorns handed the Lady Bears a 69-55 loss. Baylor would then go on to reel off 20 straight wins in 2005, including victories over three No.1 NCAA Tournament seeds, North Carolina, LSU and Michigan State, to claim its first national title. The Lady Bears extended the win streak to 26 games by defeating Georgia in their season opener, 84-72, as part of the State Farm Tip-Off Classic, UCLA (93-85), Indiana (74-62), Texas A&M-CC (92-64), California (75-58) and Marshall (74-47).
THE OPPONENT...
The University of Washington Huskies come into the contest with a perfect 5-0 mark after defeating Rice, 86-62, in the championship game of the Husky Classic on Sunday. Washington is off to its best start since head coach June Daugherty's 2003-04 squad opened with a 5-0 mark. In 1997-98, her second season as the Huskies' head coach, Daughtery's team broke out to a 10-0 record.
The Huskies return all five starters off last season's 14-16 squad. This season they are starting a senior, a junior, two sophomores and a freshman. Junior guard Cameo Hicks leads the Huskies in both scoring and rebounding at 17.8 points and 7.0 rebounds a game. After Hicks, the Huskies show balanced scoring as six players range from 8.4 points to 6.2 points a game. Freshman forward Andrea Plouffe checks in at 8.4, senior guard Kayla Burt and junior forward Breanne Watson come off the bench to score 7.4 and 7.2, respectively, sophomore Dominique Banks averages 7.0 and sophomore guard Emily Florence and senior forward Kristen O'Neill tally 6.2 each.

In 2005, the Lady Bears claimed Baylor's and the Big 12's first NCAA basketball championship.
June Daugherty is in her 10th season as the head coach of the Husky women's basketball team, having led Washington to the postseason seven times. She has guided UW to four NCAA Tournaments, including an Elite Eight appearance in 2000-01, and three trips to the WNIT. Daugherty has compiled a UW record of 159-115, and a career record of 282-189. She coached seven seasons at Boise State before coming to Seattle.

Sophia Young CONSENSUS TOP FIVE PLAYER...
Sophia Young is a consensus top five player this season. She recently became Baylor basketball's first-ever AP Preseason All-American. In addition, Young has been named a top five player by numerous publications.
Angela Tisdale MAKING MARK...
After averaging 3.7 points and 14.7 minutes a game as a freshman last season, point guard Angela Tisdale has shown considerable improvement this season. The sophomore is averaging 16.7 points a game which ranks second on the team and is dishing out a team-high 7.0 assists per outing. In addition, she is averaging 31.2 minutes a game. Although her scoring is impressive this season, even more important is the fact that she has committed just 16 turnovers in 187 minutes or 2.67 a game. She is also shooting the ball much better this season with a .508 percentage versus .357 last year.
Abiola Wabara STEPPING UP...
Junior Abiola Wabara knew that she had to step up her play this season and she's doing just that. The 6-0 forward/post has always been an impressive defender but this season she is making a large contribution in both scoring and rebounding. After averaging 5.5 points and 3.6 rebounds in 2004-05, Wabara has averaged 11.2 points and 7.0 rebounds thus far in 2005-06. She has produced two double-doubles with an 13-point, 10-rebound performance against Georgia and 10 points and a career-high 13 rebounds versus UCLA. In addition, she recorded a career-high 17 points against Indiana.
