Live Scoring for 32nd Branch Law Firm / Dick McGuire Invitational

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -After a solid season-opening performance, the Baylor women's golf team will head west Sept. 25-26 for the 32nd Branch Law Firm / Dick McGuire Invitational.

The two-day, 54-hole event will be hosted by New Mexico on the par-73, 6,187-yard UNM Championship Course with 9 a.m. CDT shotgun starts both Sunday (36 holes) and Monday (18 holes). In addition to Baylor and New Mexico, the 18-team field includes Campbell, Colorado, Colorado State, Denver, Iowa, Iowa State, North Texas, Northern Arizona, Northwestern, Pepperdine, San Diego State, San Jose State, TCU, UNLV, UTEP and Wyoming. Live scoring will be available at www.golfstat.com.

Baylor will make its seventh appearance at the Dick McGuire Invitational and its first since 2005. The Lady Bears' best finish came in 2001, when they finished fourth overall.

For the second consecutive tournament, Baylor's lineup includes three seniors - Chelsey Cothran, Jaclyn Jansen and Valerie Sternebeck - and two freshmen - Hayley Davis and Stani Schiavone. Freshman Emma Carberry will compete as an individual.

"We want to continue to improve every day," first-year head coach Jay Goble said. "The course this week should be a lot of fun to play. If we stick to our game plan and are not too aggressive on the course, then we should have plenty of birdies."

In Baylor's sixth-place finish earlier this month at the season-opening Ptarmigam Ram Fall Classic, Davis shot 2-under 214 in her collegiate debut, finishing second. Senior Chelsey Cothran tied for 17th overall.

"I do expect [performances like the Ptarmigan] from Hayley," Goble said. "She's a world-class golfer and she's been in this situation a lot. She knows how to win and play well all the time. She prepares well, practices well and is ready to compete."

Carberry will make her collegiate debut at the Dick McGuire Invitational. She and Davis comprised one of Baylor's best recruiting classes last spring.

"Emma needs the experience of getting into tournament play and performing," Goble said. "She's hasn't played in a tournament in a few months, but I'm excited to get her out there and see what she can do for us."
