Bears collect five singles and doubles wins Saturday in Waco

WACO, Texas – Baylor men's tennis opened doubles action with a 3-0 record on day two of the ITA Texas Regional Championships Saturday at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco.
While light rain forced the first round of morning matches indoors, BU posted a 2-4 record in the singles round of 16. Constantin Frantzen dropped a 6-3, 6-3 loss to Rice's Conrad Russell, and then 79th-ranked Matias Soto fell 6-3, 6-4 to Rice's Sumit Sarkar.
Despite winning the second set, No. 115 Will Little suffered a 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 loss to TCU's Bertus Kruger on court five.
Starting their matches outdoors, Jimmy Bendeck lost a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 match to Texas A&M's Barnaby Smith. The Bears finished strong though as 33rd-ranked Johannes Schretter made quick work of TCU's Eduardo Roldan, 6-1, 6-2, and then Sven Lah advanced to the round of 16 with a quick 6-1, 6-2 victory over Incarnate Word's Patrick Poestinger.
In doubles play, the duo of Matias Soto and Constantin Frantzen prevailed in a 8-7(5) win over Abilene Christian's Sebastian Langdon and Niko Moceanu on court one. Then, the second-seeded and fifth-ranked duo of Johannes Schretter and Will Little took care of Gabriel Evans and Sebastian Mortier of Incarnate World to advance to the round of 16.
The Bears finished 3-0 in doubles after top-seeded Jimmy Bendeck and Sven Lah took a 4-0, ret. win over SMU's Carles Sarrio Tamarit and Andrew Buhelos on court two.

WHAT'S NEXT
All three doubles teams compete in the Round of 16 Sunday at 9 a.m. CT, followed by Schretter and Lah in the singles round of 16 at noon CT.
If they advance, they will compete singles and doubles quarterfinals on Sunday as well.
