Kaur and Liddell both shot 1-under 71 in first round

PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas – Baylor women's golf is in sixth place after shooting 3-over-par 291 in Monday's first round of the White Sands Invitational at Ocean Club Golf Course. The Bears are four shots back of third place with two rounds remaining.
Baylor (+3) trails only Texas (-12), Arkansas (-5), Houston (-1), Clemson (E) and Georgia (+1). The Bears lead Ohio State (+5), Mississippi State (+6), Oklahoma (+7), North Texas (+7), Tennessee (+8), Tulane (+11), SMU (+11) and New Mexico (+12).
Baylor was led by Gurleen Kaur and Fiona Liddell, who both shot 1-under 71 to tie for 12th place. Kaur made a tournament-high six birdies, including five on the back-9, while Liddell played a clean round with one birdie and 17 pars.
Jordan Shackelford posted a 1-over 73 to tie for 27th place, while Elodie Chapelet rounded out the team scorecard with a 4-over 76 to tie for 53rd place. Anika Veintemilla, who is competing as an individual, shot 1-over 73 to tie for 27th place, and Erica Chiang is tied for 64th place at 5-over 77.
