The Bears aim to build on win in the last event
VALENCIA, Calif. — Fresh off its win at the PDI Intercollegiate earlier this month, Baylor women's golf heads to the West Coast for the Bruin-Wave Invitational.
Played at Valencia Country Club, the Bears are one of three teams in the field ranked inside the top 30. For the second-straight event, head coach Jay Goble is taking his team to an event they haven't played in over a decade, but he hopes to see his team's game keep rolling in Southern California.
"We are excited to go to Los Angeles this weekend," he said. "It's been a while since we have played this tournament, and it looks like we will have some amazing weather this week. We are looking forward to getting out of the cold and playing a lot of golf over these next few days. The goal is to keep improving each tournament to play our best and earn our way back out here for nationals in May."
Silje Ohma will play at the No. 1 spot after an impressive start to the spring, highlighted by a second-place finish at the PDI in Orlando, Fla., a few weeks ago.
Sera Hasegawa will play at No. 2 on the heels of a tie for 11th in Orlando. The team leader in rounds at par or better has had no shortage of success, compiling a pair of top-10s out on the West Coast.
Bridget Boczar will get the nod at No. 3. The junior has strung together a season-best finish in three straight events, including a tie for 18th at the PDI Intercollegiate.
BaiMai Seema will slot into the No. 4 position fresh off her final-round 69 in Orlando, which helped the team secure the championship.
Ashleen Kaur returns to the lineup at No. 5. The sophomore enters Monday with a pair of top-25s on the season.
Jenny Lee will make her third start of the season as an individual.
Kaur will lead things off for Baylor on Monday morning at 9:30 a.m. CT. A full listing of tee times, live scores and stats will be available at Golfstat.com.
