BU begins a two-tournament stretch in the Lone Star State
FORT WORTH, Texas — Baylor women's golf returns to the Lone Star State when it opens play at the Charles Schwab Women's Collegiate at Colonial Country Club on Monday.
After placing seventh at the fall version of this event at nearby Ridglea Country Club, head coach Jay Goble will take his team to the site of the PGA Tour's Charles Schwab Challenge. With no shortage of history and tradition on the famed Fort Worth fairways, he is appreciative to test his team against the best on the best course.
"This is an incredible opportunity for our team to play a great course like Colonial against some of the best teams in women's collegiate golf," he said. "We want to be playing among the elite at La Costa at the end of May, so this field and historic course are the next step on that journey. So, we feel very fortunate to be included in this awesome event."
Freshman Jenny Lee will get the nod at No. 1. Finishing 40th at Ridglea last fall, Lee aims to build on a solid spring semester, coming off a tie for 35th at the Bruin-Wave Invitational.
In addition to participating in the collegiate am associated with the event, Silje Ohma will play out of the No. 2 position on Monday. Enjoying a junior-year resurgence, the former All-American has three top-10 finishes already this spring.
Sera Hasegawa will play at No. 3; the senior has top-10 finishes in four of her last five events and is on pace to set Baylor's career scoring average mark at 72.08.
Also playing in the collegiate am, BaiMai Seema will play at No. 4. The senior led the Bears with a tie for 40th at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate earlier this month.
Ashleen Kaur rounds out the lineup at No. 5. The sophomore finished tied for 29th in the fall version of this event at Ridglea.
The teams will play 54 holes, beginning with 36 on Monday morning, commencing with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The final round will be an 18-hole shotgun start on Tuesday morning. Staring hole assignments, live scores and stats will be available at Scoreboard.clippd.com.
