BU finished fourth in last year’s conference tournament at Houston Oaks
HOCKLEY, Texas — Baylor women's golf begins its postseason journey on Tuesday morning when it opens play at the Big 12 Championship at Houston Oaks.
The third time the event has been held in Hockley, Texas, BU's best finish was a tie for second in 2022. Head coach Jay Goble is taking a lineup that knows its way around Houston Oaks but will be going up against one of the deepest championship fields in conference history. He feels like his team is ready for the challenge.
"We work all season to get to play in these high-leverage events and try to get back to La Costa," he said. "Houston Oaks is a place our team is familiar with and a place we've had some pretty good success through the years. The conference is as deep as it's ever been, so it will definitely be a challenge but we're looking forward to it."
Ashleen Kaur will play at No. 1 this week. The Houston-area native finished tied for 33rd in her Big 12 Championship debut last season.
BaiMai Seema will make her final appearance at the Big 12 Championship, playing out of the No. 2 position. She made her Big 12 debut a season ago, shooting 76-75 in the first two rounds at Houston Oaks.
Bridget Boczar will make her Big 12 debut at the No. 3 spot. The Oakland transfer is no stranger to success in conference tournaments. The Horizon League Player of the Year a season ago, Boczar won the league tournament title in 2024 and was an all-tournament team selection in 2023.
Silje Ohma will take her place at No. 4. The junior tied for 12th in Hockley last season, which proved to be her best finish of the season. The Bergen, Norway, native made the Big 12 All-Tournament team with a tie for ninth at Dallas Athletic Club in 2023.
Sera Hasegawa will make one more trip around Houston Oaks, playing at No. 5. The senior made the Big 12 All-Tournament Team in Hockley a season ago, tying for eighth.
Malena Castro will travel with the team as an alternate.
The No. 10 seed Bears will play alongside BYU and Texas Tech in the first round. Hasegawa will lead things off at 9:10 a.m. on the 10th tee. Full tee times, live scores and stats are available at Scoreboard.CLIPPD.com.
