PROVO, Utah – No. 18 Baylor women's basketball led from start to finish and used a 25‑point performance from Taliah Scott to secure a 69-58 win over BYU on Saturday afternoon at the Marriott Center. The Bears improved to 17-3 overall, BU's best 20-game start in the Nicki Collen era, and 6-1 in Big 12 play.
With the win, BU hasn't dropped a true-road matchup this season or since the Jan. 26, 2025, contest at TCU. The 10-win streak on the road includes ranked bouts at No. 14 Kansas State last year and No. 10 Iowa State this year.
Baylor set the tone immediately, jumping out to a 23-13 lead after the first quarter and never allowed the Cougars to take a lead at any point in the game. The Bears held BYU to a game-low 23.8% shooting in the opening period and just 32.3% for the afternoon, including 5-for-30 from beyond the arc at 16.7%.
The first quarter saw the Bears' game-best, 10-point unanswered run, as BU sunk eight field goals to start the game shooting 44.4%.
Scott powered the offense with those game‑high 25 points, knocking down five 3‑pointers while adding five assists and six rebounds. She scored seven of Baylor's first‑quarter points and delivered timely baskets each time BYU threatened to close the gap.
Bella Fontleroy added 12 points and five rebounds, hitting two threes and contributing a block on the defensive end. Kiersten Johnson provided scoring early, finishing with six points on 3-of-4 shooting all in 18 minutes.
Darianna Littlepage‑Buggs anchored the paint with a team‑high nine rebounds, four points, two assists and a block. Off the bench, Marcayla Johnson gave the Bears a lift with five points and six rebounds in just over 15 minutes.
Baylor's defense forced 15 turnovers and turned them into 11 points, while the Bears' bench contributed 15 throughout the game. BU shot 91.7% from the free‑throw line, its second-best showing of the season from the charity stripe, going 11-for-12.
The Bears' largest lead reached 17 points midway through the second quarter, and BYU responded with a run of their own to bring the lead back to 10 going into the half. Delaney Gibb led the Cougars with 20 point, and Lara Rohkohl was the only player on the court to hit double-digit rebounds with 10.
Baylor shot a game-best 46.7% in the fourth quarter to escape with the victory, with 12 of the period's 18 points coming off the hands of Scott.
BU is back home for a pair of Big 12 matchups next week, hosting UCF on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. CT and Houston on Sunday afternoon at 2. Both games will be live on ESPN+ and the Baylor Sports Media Network.
