Bears welcome Red Raiders for Scarf Night at Betty Lou Mays Field
By Jordin Boulware, Baylor Athletics Communications
WACO, Texas – Baylor soccer will kick off Big 12 play Friday night at Betty Lou Mays Field, hosting Texas Tech at 7 p.m. The match will stream live on ESPN+ with Lincoln Rose and Brooke Kirchhofer on the call.
The Bears enter the contest unbeaten at 5-0-2 after their non-conference slate and will welcome the 6-1-0 Red Raiders to the Banks of the Brazos for the first time since 2023. BU holds the all-time advantage at 18-9-6 but dropped the most recent meeting, a 2-1 decision in the Big 12 Championship quarterfinal last fall in Kansas City.
Texas Tech arrives in Waco as one of the league's most consistent programs, leading the Big 12 in total wins over the past three seasons and remaining unbeaten in their last 16 road conference matches. Their six wins this season include a 4-0 victory over Denver, a team that drew the Bears 0-0 in Montana. Texas Tech's lone setback came in a 2-0 road loss to San Francisco.
In the first NCAA RPI release of the season, Baylor was ranked No. 14 nationally, highlighted by a win over now second-ranked Mississippi State. The Red Raiders sit at No. 50 and have yet to face a top-25 opponent this season.
Friday's match is the annual Go Gold promotion, where fans are encouraged to wear their best gold in the stands. The match also features a scarf giveaway, with fans able to pick up a voucher upon arrival, while supplies last, and redeem it at halftime for the 2025 Baylor Soccer Scarf.
Live stats for the match will be available online with updates provided on social media.
