
No. 14 MT Preps for Sunday Doubleheader at The Hurd

WACO, Texas -- Winners of three straight and four of the last five, No. 14 Baylor men's tennis will host a doubleheader on Sunday, welcoming No. 31 Cornell at 12 p.m. before concluding the day with Lehigh at 6 p.m. at the Hurd Tennis Center.
Baylor (10-6) is riding a three-match win streak with results over No. 46 Tulsa, UTRGV and No. 16 Illinois, and including a win over No. 7 Duke, have won three of its last five matches.
The Bears have several players highlighted in the latest ITA rankings, including in singles with sophomore Devin Badenhorst checking in No. 40, senior Oskar Brostrom Poulsen ranked No. 96 and junior Zsombor Velcz ranked No. 99. In doubles, Marko Miladinovic and Brostrom Poulsen rank No. 15, Velcz and Brostrom Poulsen rank No. 51, and Badenhorst and Luc Koenig rank No. 79.
The Bears have a combined 47-27 record in singles in the spring and a24-16 mark in doubles. In the spring, Alexandru Chirita leads the team with 10 singles wins, with Miladinovic adding eight and Badenhorst and Brostrom Poulsen each adding six. Koenig has combined for 11 doubles wins to lead the team, with Badenhorst rocking a 10-2 mark. As a team, Badenhorst and Koenig are 8-1 on court 2.
Cornell (9-4) has won three of its last four matches entering the clash with Baylor, including wins over Penn, No. 33 Michigan State and, most recently, VCU on Sunday, 4-1. Cornell has losses vs. No. 37 Yale, Princeton, Vanderbilt and Oklahoma, and also sport marquee wins over Tulsa, Old Dominion, Louisville, Purdue, Quinnipiac and Delaware.
Radu Papoe leads the Big Red with 16 singles wins, including a 6-2 mark on court 1 in the spring. Adit Sinha is 12-7 in singles, with Nathan Mao and Jack McCarthy each sporting 10 singles wins on the year. Eric Verdes and Rushil Khosla are 6-4 in doubles on court 1, and 11-6 on the year. Pape and Rodrigo Fernandez, and Nathan Mao and Sinha each have six wins on the year. Sinha and McCarthy are 4-2 on court 3 in doubles in the spring. As a team, Cornell is 43-28 in doubles and 92-60 in singles.
Lehigh (5-3) faces the bears after a weekend split in Bethlehem, Pa., posting a 5-2 win over Long Island on Sunday after a 7-0 loss to Drexel on Saturday. Lehigh owns wins over Rider, Mount St. Mary's (Md.), Colgate, Farleigh Dickenson and LIU, falling vs. Drexel, Monmouth and BYU.
Jose Murariu is 5-3 on the year in singles, including a 5-2 mark on court 1. Marc Blekham has played five of eight matches on court 2 in singles for Lehigh, going 2-3 on court 2 and 3-0 on court 3. In doubles, Blekhman and Sean Jaeger are 6-2 on court 1.
