JOSEPH BRYCE “BARNEY” BURCH, Mineral Wells, Texas (Football, 1919-22; Basketball, 1920-21) – 1967
A two-sport athlete who was named to Baylor football’s All-Decade team of the 1920s, Burch was an end on the 1922 team that finished 8-3 and won the Southwest Conference championship.
Burch was also a basketball letterman in 1920-21, playing for Hall of Fame coach Frank Bridges in both sports. Along with George Berry Graves, he was one of the early dreamers and heavily involved in the planning for what turned out to be the “B” Association Letterwinners Lounge at Floyd Casey Stadium.
Inducted in the Baylor Hall of Fame in 1967, Burch was a longtime car dealer in Waco who died two years later.
